Abstract
Abstract
SQL Server must estimate the number of rows based on statistics to determine the physical operators, memory allocation and the degree of parallelism prior to query execution.
In this session (Level 300-400) you will learn the benefits and limitations of these statistics. I will explore the effects of missing and stale statistics, show the structure of statistics (header, density vector, histogram), and deal with query hints, such as optimizing for unknowns and using local variables.
