Abstract
Abstract
Until now, metadata conflicts in tempdb have been a scalability bottleneck for many workloads running in Microsoft SQL Server. SQL Server 2019 introduces a new feature called Memory-Optimized Tempdb Metadata, which removes this bottleneck and enables a new level of scalability for tempdb-intensive workloads. In this session we will look at how this feature works, how it is implemented, and when it is beneficial. We will also compare it to other techniques such as in-memory OLTP to decide which approach is best for a given workload.
