Abstract
Abstract
Locking and blocking can slow down the performance of your query workload, but they are difficult to identify and avoid.
In this session, you will learn how and why a database management system, such as Microsoft SQL Server, implements locking and blocking. In addition, we will monitor and analyse blocking and blocking with advanced events and dynamic management views and develop strategies such as implementing indexes or changing the transaction isolation level to reduce the likelihood of blocking. Thereby, we will also cover the different transaction isolation dependencies like dirty, non-repeatable, phantom reads and lost updates.
